CM stresses early completion of Eklavya school at Umladhur

Shillong, Nov 10: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Monday inspected the work of Eklavya Model Residential School at Umladhur under Amlarem subdivision in West Jaintia Hills district.

Work for the school funded by National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS) under the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs at the cost of Rs 45 crore presently about 70% complete.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by the Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui, along with officials from various government departments, traditional leaders, and local representatives.

During the inspection, the Chief Minister said upon completion, the school will greatly enhance educational opportunities in the region and serve as an important institution for the community’s social and academic growth.

He also directed the contractors and departmental officers to expedite the remaining works so that the school can become operational by the year 2026, enabling students to begin their studies at the earliest.
