Shillong, Sept 16: NPP national president and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Tuesday asserted that the party remains united with 33 MLAs and is focused on winning the upcoming Shillong Lok Sabha by-election and the GHADC polls.
“The NPP is absolutely united. The Deputy CM spoke on behalf of the NPP that day and gave a very clear picture that we are working together. Our number is 33; we are very much united and working very hard, not just for this government, but to ensure that the party grows further in the days to come,” Sangma said.
He also dismissed speculation over a possible BJP-UDP merger, saying he had not received any information from a reliable source.
“I have not heard of it from any reliable source. I am only seeing reels and social media messages,” he said.
Refusing to speculate on the issue, Sangma said any comment must be based on facts.
“I cannot make comments based on reels and news articles. It has to be based on facts. Until I see something concrete, I will refrain from commenting. If we start thinking of every potential situation, like a nuclear bomb going off, it is impossible to work,” he said.
