Contraband in form of cough syrup seized in North Garo Hills

Tura. NOV 25: A large consignment of contraband in the form of psychotropic cough syrup have been seized at Rari from a vehicle coming from Assam by North Garo Hills police on Sunday.

North Garo Hills Police Operational Group Centre (OGC) intercepted the consignment during a naka checking at Rari town around 2:40 Sunday afternoon.

A Tata Magic vehicle bearing registration number AS18 AC 6853 that aas suspected to be carrying contraband materials was flagged down by a police team. On inspecting the vehicle they found a huge consignment of ten bags containing the cough syrup Phensedyl.

A total of 2500 bottles  (10 ml per bottle) of the psychotropic substance was seized from the vehicle.

Police have seized the vehicle  with the contraband and also taken into custody three men from Assam who were attempting to smuggle in the substance into Garo Hills.
