Cosmetics worth 7 Lakh seized in Garo Hills border

Tura, Sept 26: A large consignment of smuggled cosmetics worth over seven lakh rupees have been seized on Thursday morning from near the Indo-Bangla border in Purakhasia by West Garo Hills police.

A police team that was out on patrolling duty at around 10:30 AM spotted several packages kept in the bushes below in the area of Fokachindi area. On inspection they found large quanties of cosmetics neatedly packed in eight large bags.

The seized cosmetic items consisted of:

  1. Ponds Face Wash – each cartoon contains 24 pieces of 100 ml. each = 87 pkds x 24 x Rs. = Rs. 4,36,392/-.
  2. Nivea Moisturizing Cream
    Each cartoon contains 72
    pieces of 100 ml. each =
    18 pkds. x 532 x Rs. 265
    each = Rs. 1,40,980/-
  3. Nivea Moisturizing Cream
    Each cartoon contains
    250 pieces of 50 ml. each
    = 5 x 1250 pieces x Rs.
    138 each = Rs. 1,72,500/-

The total value of the seized goods is estimsted at approximately Rs. 7,49,872/-.
