Dy CM Tynsong meets Pope Leo in Vatican

Shillong, Aug 21: Deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong met with Pope Leo XIV during a private audience in Vatican on Wednesday. 

Tynsong was the first from Meghalaya to have met the Pope just within three months after the pontiff’s election as the head of the Catholic Church and the Vatican City.

The Pope blessed Tynsong and Meghalaya as a whole and conveyed his special greetings to the people of the state, according to a statement. 

Pope Leo also appreciated the efforts of the political and religious leaders of Meghalaya in dealing with various challenges facing the people of the state and society as a whole.
