Education reforms: MSPB for joint effort by stakeholders

Shillong, June 18: The Meghalaya State Planning Board (MSPB) has recommended the need for better coordination among stakeholders to bring necessary changes and reforms in the state’s education sector.

Meanwhile, the Board will also submit its recommendations for resolving the ever growing traffic congestion in Shillong city, informed MSPB chairman Metbah Lyngdoh while speaking to reporters on Wednesday.

“The board will definitely come up with some kind of suggestions (on traffic congestion) and we will place it before the government for further consideration,” he added.

Informing about the Board’s recent review of education sector, he said, “There are a lot of things that need to be done in the department. We need to ensure all stakeholders play their own roles and ensure complete reform.”

Referring to the presentation given by the education department, the MSPB chairman said, “They have really worked on the changes that need to be done as far as education department is concerned. All who are responsible for that, have really put on their heads together.”

“Other stakeholders also have to be taken into consideration and they also have to see that they are equally responsible in the education department,” he added.
