West Garo Hills administration issues social media advisory for govt staff

Tura, March 14: Amid the prevailing situation in West Garo Hills district, the District Magistrate has issued an advisory directing all Government employees to exercise caution and restraint while using their personal and social media accounts.

According to the order, Government employees are strictly prohibited from posting or forwarding messages, audio-video clips, pictures, or any content that may be incendiary or provocative in nature.

They have also been instructed not to post or comment on law and order incidents occurring in other districts or states in a manner that could evoke public reaction or create resentment among different sections of society.

The directive applies to all Government offices across the district, and Heads of Offices have been instructed to ensure strict compliance among their employees.

The administration has warned that any violation of the order will invite legal action under relevant provisions of law, in addition to disciplinary action under the Meghalaya Civil Services (Discipline & Appeal) Rules, 2019.

The measure has been taken in the larger public interest to help maintain peace and stability in the district.
