Shillong, Nov 28: One Leiki Rymbai, convicted of committing sexual offence against a minor in East Jaintia Hills district, has been sentenced to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment.
In its verdict, the court of B Khriam, Special Judge POCSO, East Jaintia Hills, stated, “Leiki Rymbai has been found guilty under section 6(1) of the POCSO Act and is sentence to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 25 years and to pay a fine of ₹1,00,000.”
The case regarding the offence was registered at Khliehriat Women Police Station in 2023, and the investigation was conducted by WPSI JM Kurbah.
The accused has also been sentenced to one year in prison and a fine of ₹5,000.
