Elaborate traffic arrangement for Amit Shah’s Shillong visit

Home Minister to confer Presidential Colour on Meghalaya police

Shillong, Oct 2: Meghalaya Police has made elaborate security and traffic arrangements for Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Shillong on October 4 and 5 for the Presidential Colours ceremony.

“Elaborate preparations have been made for the coming of the Union Home Minister, that is slated for October 4 and 5, and advisories will be given by the SP Traffic on which route to avoid, the timings, so that we will try to cause the least inconvenience,” East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem said on Thursday.

He said traffic management is the biggest concern.

“A lot of meticulous planning has been made considering traffic because that is the biggest concern for traffic, transport movement, so that will be handled meticulously,” Syiem said.

On security deployment, he said, “Elaborate security management has been made all along the way, tactical teams and different units have come, so a strength of about 1500 personnel will be deployed here and so everything is in place.”

The Union Home Minister will present the prestigious Presidential Colours to Meghalaya Police, one of the few police forces in the Northeast to receive the honour.

“The Home Minister is coming here for the prestigious ceremony of the Presidential Colours and this is a matter of pride for the Meghalaya Police, it is a matter of achievement. We are one of the few North Eastern states who have achieved this,” Syiem said.

“This is because of the sacrifice, the integrity, the dedication in our service and we will endeavour to give the best in whatever we do to the public and to ensure that policing reaches its zenith in professionalism, in delivery and in integrity,” he added.
