Election Commissioner offers prayers at Lum Sohpetbneng

Shillong, Nov 19: Election Commissioner of India, Sukhbir Singh Sandhu visited the Sacred Summit of Lum Sohpetbneng  on Wednesday.

He was accompanied by his wife along with senior officials including Abhilash Baranwal,  Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District, and Dr. BDR Tiwari, Chief Electoral Officer.

Sandhu was warmly received by representatives of Seng Khasi Kmie — DL Nongbri (vice president), PB Synrem (assistant general secretary), members of the Jylli Pyrkhat Kam, and the Lum Sohpetbneng Committee.

The Election Commissioner proceeded to the Sacred Sanctum Sanctorum to offer prayers and seek blessings from God the Creator.

He was presented with books highlighting the significance of Lum Sohpetbneng and the Khasi way of life. During a brief interaction with the elders of Seng Khasi.

Sandhu also engaged in discussions on the cultural importance and spiritual legacy of the sacred site and also expressed appreciation for the rich traditions and values upheld by the Seng Khasi community.
