Ex BTC Dy Chief Kampa Borgoyari quits BPF after 20 years, likely to join UPPL

Guwahati, Feb 2: In a major political shift, former Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) deputy chief Kampa Borgoyari has resigned from the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), ending a two-decade-long association with the party. His resignation letter was submitted to BPF supremo and former BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary on Sunday.

Sources suggest that Borgoyari is set to join Pramod Bodo-led United People’s Party Liberation (UPPL).

Borgoyari, a prominent BPF leader, had contested the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha elections but lost to UPPL’s Joyanta Basumatary. Citing personal reasons for his resignation, he wrote, “I do hereby tender my resignation from the vice presidency as well as the primary membership of the BPF due to my inability to participate in party activities.”

Expressing gratitude for his journey with the BPF, Borgoyari acknowledged the opportunity he had to serve the people for 20 years.

He stated, “I hope that under your capable leadership, the party will continue to grow and fulfil the aspirations of the people.”

In a heartfelt social media post, Borgoyari reflected on his two-decade-long tenure in BPF, calling it an “incredible journey filled with memories and valuable experiences.” He extended appreciation to Hagrama Mohilary, BPF leaders, members, and supporters for their unwavering trust and support.

While stepping away from BPF, Borgoyari assured that his commitment to public service remains unchanged, saying, “This resignation does not alter my dedication to the people and the values I believe in. I will continue to work towards progress in meaningful ways.”

As speculations grow about his formal entry into UPPL, Borgoyari’s move could have significant political implications for the BTC’s evolving landscape, particularly ahead of the upcoming elections. His transition from BPF to UPPL marks yet another shift in Bodoland politics, reflecting the region’s dynamic political realignments.
