Guwahati, Mar 18: Reo Reoa Narzihary, an MCLA from the Zamdur constituency and a BJP leader, resigned from the party on Tuesday, citing personal reasons.
In his resignation letter to the Kokrajhar District BJP president, Narzihary stated, “With due respect and sincere reflection, I wish to formally tender my resignation from the primary membership of the BJP, Kokrajhar District, effective immediately.”
He attributed his decision to physical, spiritual, and financial hardships, stating that these constraints made it increasingly difficult for him to fulfil his responsibilities.
While he held no formal position in the party since joining in 2020, he emphasized that his experience had been invaluable and that he had contributed in whatever capacity he could.
Expressing gratitude to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Narzihary praised his leadership and acknowledged the opportunity to serve the people of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
However, he made it clear that he would continue to support the UPPL-led coalition government in the BTC both inside and outside the BTCLA.
Narzihary was elected to the BTC in the 2020 council elections as a candidate from Hagrama Mohilary’s Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) but joined the BJP soon after.
He served as the Executive Member for Industries and Commerce and Legal Metrology in the BTC before being removed from the post on August 27, 2024.
His removal followed allegations that BTC Chief Pramod Boro was denying privileges to BJP workers in the council.
