Shillong, Mar 31: Father Bernard Laloo was officially ordained as the Auxiliary Bishop of Archdiocese of Shillong at Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians in Shillong on Sunday.
His appointment as the Auxiliary Bishop was officially announced by Pope Francis on 8 February 2025.

The ordination was officiated by Leopoldo Girelli, Apostolic Nuncio to India and Nepal, Archbishop Victor Lyngdoh, several dignitaries, clergy members, and faithful in attendance.
Born in 1976 at Laitlyngkot, East Khasi Hills, Bishop Bernard Laloo was ordained a priest in 2006.
Throughout his years of service in Shillong Archdiocese, Bishop Laloo has held key roles, including Assistant at St. Paul’s Church, Upper Shillong; Administrator of Christ the King College, Shillong; Dean of Studies at St. Paul’s Seminary, Shillong; Principal of Divine Saviour Higher Secondary School, Laitumkhrah; Director of the Social Service Centre, Shillong; and Chancellor of Shillong Archdiocese.
He also served as the Parish Priest of the Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians, Laitumkhrah.

An MA in Sociology, Bishop Laloo has also contributed to social causes, having been a member of Farmers’ Commission and State Tuberculosis Co-morbidity Coordination Committee.
Chief minister Conrad Sangma and deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong were among other dignitaries who attended the occasion.
Following the sacred rites, the day concluded with a benediction and vibrant cultural performances.
