Governor meets 26 children, motivates them to pursue dreams with confidence

Shillong, July 29: Meghalaya Governor CH Vijayashankar on Wednesday urged children to pursue their goals with confidence and determination, while also lauding the role of social institutions in nurturing vulnerable sections of society.

The Governor made the remarks during an interaction with a delegation from the Meghalaya Hindu Mission Children Home, which called on him at Lok Bhavan. Additional Chief Secretary to the Governor HC Chaudhary was also present.

The delegation comprised 26 children from the institution, accompanied by Advocate R Paul, assistant in-charge of the institution; Anita Deb, case worker; Shekar Mech, warden and KB Prasad Pandey, teacher.

During the meeting, the Governor enquired about the children’s well-being, education and aspirations. He appreciated the Meghalaya Hindu Mission Children Home for providing care, shelter and support to children in need, and for its contribution to their holistic development over the years.

The Meghalaya Hindu Mission Children Home, established in 1926, works for the welfare of vulnerable sections by providing protection and support to children.

The delegation informed the Governor that the institution will be celebrating its Centenary in October 2026 and sought his blessings for the milestone.

The Governor conveyed his best wishes to the children for their future endeavours and expressed hope that they would continue to excel academically and personally while becoming responsible citizens.

The visit concluded with a group photograph with the Governor, marking the occasion for the children and members of the Meghalaya Hindu Mission Children Home.
