Govt employees asked to surrender ration cards

Shillong, Apr 4: North Garo Hills deputy commissioner (supply) has asked all government employees, including deficit and ad hoc teachers, to surrender their ration cards (AAY+PHH category) under National Food Security Act (NFSA).

Since 14 years have passed since Socio Economic Caste Census 2011, based on which NFSA beneficiaries were selected and issued ration cards, “it may be right to state that there are many who have gotten service under the government sector till date”, the DC stated.

As government employees do not fall under the criteria for holding ration card, they have been requested to surrender their ration cards so as to enable the genuine poor and needy families, labourers, physically handicapped as such possible beneficiaries, it stated.

Meanwhile, the DC also urged the beneficiaries of NFSA (AAY/PHH) to complete the e-KYC process and asked the wholesalers and FPS dealers to keep open their FPS centres daily in order to facilitate 100% completion of e-KYC process.
