Govt launches Online Building Permission System

Shillong, Aug 27: The state government has notified the Online Building Permission System (OBPS), which was formally launched on August 11.

The system aims to streamline the process of building plan applications and promote transparency and efficiency.

A notification issued on Wednesday said the System mandates Architects, Engineers, Town Planners, and Consulting Firms to register themselves in order to access the portal for submission and processing of building plan applications.

The Registration Fees applicable to Engineers, Town Planners, and Consulting Firms shall continue to remain the same as prescribed vide Notice No. MUDA.BP/188/2007-08/ dated April 2018.

For Architects registered with the Council of Architecture (CoA), there shall be no Registration Fee, except for a processing fee of Rs. 100only.

The Third-Party Agencies, Institutes or Government Departments engaged for Vetting or proof checking of the Structural Design/ Drawings of projects are required only to onboard themselves in the system and there shall be no Registration or Processing fee.

The Online Building Permission System is expected to simplify the process of building plan approvals, reduce processing time, and increase transparency.
