Govt medical body stages black badge protest

Shillong, Aug 16: The Meghalaya Medical Services Association (MMSA) on Friday observed a black badge protest in solidarity with the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata.

The All India Federation of Government Doctors Association (AIFGDA) had called for a nation-wide protest on August 16.

MMSA in a statement said, “By wearing black badges, we stand united with our fellow doctors across the country to condemn this act of violence and to call for immediate justice. The safety and security of healthcare professionals are paramount and such incidents must not go unaddressed.”

The MMSA also urged authorities to take stringent action against the perpetrators and to ensure a safer working environment for all medical professionals.
