Shillong, July 1: The state government is exploring feasibility of establishing a fisheries cluster and developing fisheries infrastructure in Meghalaya to benefit over 1,000 fish farmers, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma informed on Wednesday.
Taking to social media handle X, the Chief Minister said the project will set up dedicated units under the Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF).

“Discussed the feasibility of establishing a fisheries cluster and developing fisheries infrastructure in Meghalaya to benefit over 1,000 fish farmers through dedicated units under the Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF),” Sangma said.
The initiative will be implemented in collaboration with multiple agencies to provide end-to-end support to the sector.
“The project will be implemented in collaboration with the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), NABARD, and Uday Aqua, which will provide technical support, market linkages, and capacity-building to strengthen the fisheries sector and improve farmers’ livelihoods,” he added.
