Shillong, June 18: The state government has been pursuing with the Centre the state assembly’s resolution for implementation of inner line permit (ILP) in the state, UDP chief Metbah Lyngdoh said on Wednesday.
Reminding that the House of 60 members had unanimously passed the ILP resolution and sent for Centre’s approval on it, Lyngdoh said the chief minister and cabinet ministers have been pursuing the matter with Delhi.

The United Democratic Party (UDP) chief admitted a few areas of concern in the proposal that may come in conflict with the central laws, but said, “That aspect has to be sorted out in case if it is there.”
“I’m sure there must be some issues or constraints, which is part of that exercise that the central government is trying to look into,” he stated.
Pending ILP implementation, the UDP chief said, Meghalaya Residents, Safety and Security Act (MRSSA) can to a great extent help in addressing the issue of influx in the state.
