Aadhaar linkage in MHIS-PMJAY: Households – 77.02 pc; Individuals – 57.13 pc
Shillong, July 16: In order to ensure uninterrupted disbursal of key welfare schemes to eligible beneficiaries, the state government will intensify Aadhaar enrolment and e-KYC drives across the state, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said on Thursday.
The government has emphasized on closing gaps in Aadhaar linkage and beneficiary verification, Sangma said during a review of the status of Aadhaar enrolment and seeding with Community & Rural Development, Health, Social Welfare, and Food & Civil Supplies departments.
A clear gap in Aadhaar linkage was seen during the review as it was found that 77.02 per cent of households covered under the Meghalaya Health Insurance Scheme–Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (MHIS-PMJAY) are Aadhaar-linked, while 57.13 per cent of individual beneficiaries have been linked.
Under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), the state has completed 61.01 per cent e-KYC, with the government now considering the engagement of Common Service Centres (CSCs) to accelerate the remaining verification process and bridge Aadhaar gaps across the state.
The Chief Minister said the government has decided to organise additional Aadhaar enrolment and awareness camps in coordination with district administrations and line departments to improve coverage, particularly in areas with lower enrolment.
While assuring all possible government support to help citizens complete Aadhaar enrolment and e-KYC, the Chief Minister stressed that beneficiaries of Central government schemes must fulfil the mandatory Aadhaar and e-KYC requirements to ensure the uninterrupted flow of benefits.
The review is part of the state’s efforts to strengthen the delivery of welfare schemes by ensuring that eligible beneficiaries are properly identified and linked to government databases.
