Shillong, Aug 3: The Meghalaya High Court has directed the state government to submit a report on steps taken to combat drug peddling, including ongoing projects and government initiatives, within three weeks.
A bench of Chief Justice Revati Mohite Dere and Justice W Diengdoh passed the order on Monday while hearing a PIL filed by one Mewaker Lyngdoh.
The Court permitted petitioner’s counsel senior advocate SP Mahanta to file an affidavit pointing out areas where police action has been inadequate, to help authorities take targeted steps.
The matter will be heard next on September 1, 2026.
