Shillong, June 9: Urban Affairs department has received many requests from several localities for installation of close circuit televisions (CCTVs) to ensure safety and security of the citizens in Shillong agglomeration.
The requests for CCTVs have started pouring in following successful installation of 335 CCTVs under Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) in and around Shillong city, deputy chief minister in-charge Urban Affairs Sniawbhalang Dhar told reporters on Monday.
The government has also plans expand the outreach of CCTV facilities in other parts of the state, including Jowai and Tura, he said.

“We are now studying based on the size of the area. It (installation for CCTVs) will be more,” he added.
Meanwhile, the deputy CM also congratulated the Home (Police) department over its sensational breakthrough in the murder of Indore-based Raja Raghubanshi, the case that has drawn national limelight for the past one week.
“I would like to thank the Home department; they have done a tremendous job to get all these culprits. I would like to thank local people for extending their help to police, NDRF, SDRF during the search operation. Congratulations to the police for nabbing the culprits behind the case,” he said.
Dhar, however, said the government would take action at an appropriate time against those involved in tarnishing the image of Meghalaya.
