Hunt for young archers to represent Garo Hills in next Meghalaya Games

Tura, Nov 25: There is good news for young archers from Garo Hills keen to prove their mettle with the West Garo Hills Archery Association, in collaboration with the District Sports Office, announcing on Monday that a trial will take place early next month to tap fresh talent for the upcoming Meghalaya Games.

The trials are to take place on December 2 at the Montfort Centre for Education school in Tura, focusing on participants aged 14 and above across various categories.

The primary objective of the trials is to identify and nurture promising archers from the region, providing them with the training necessary to represent the district in the next Meghalaya Games. In a bid to offer comprehensive training, coaches and personnel from the Meghalaya Archery Association will be present to guide and groom the young talents.

Recently formed, the West Garo Hills Archery Association seeks to revitalize professional and traditional archery in the region, with a strong emphasis on engaging local youth.

The association’s ultimate goal is to foster a culture of archery excellence, blending modern and traditional techniques, while empowering young archers to compete at both regional and national levels.
