Shillong, Mar 22: Hygeia 2025, The Swachhata Conference was organised at the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Science (NEIGRIHMS) in Shillong on Friday.
The conference highlighted various issues related to infection control in hospital, cleanliness protocols in critical areas including operation theatres and ICUs, various aspects of stress and mental health of sanitation staff.
Faculty from IHM Shillong and State Pollution Control Board enlightened the participants about the safe food practices and medical waste management.
NEIGRIHMS officiating director Prof Vandana Raphael, officiating medical superintendent Prof Suvamoy Chakraborty, and officiating deputy director (admin) David Umdor addressed the occasion that was attended by over 140 delegates, including health care staff from various hospitals in Shillong and nearby health care facilities.
It was informed that NEIGRIHMS is taking active steps to install water purification system to improve the water quality and prevent the risk of water borne infection.
‘Best Out of Waste Competition’ and ‘Quiz Competition’ were organised to encourage and spread the message across the delegates.
Supercare Hospital, Mawiong CHC and NEIGRIHMS received 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes in ‘Best out of Waste’ Competition and Reid Provincial Chest Hospital, Ganesh Das Hospital and Civil Hospital received 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize in Quiz Competition respectively.
