Itanagar, Jun 17 : Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Wednesday said India has witnessed remarkable progress in its defence capabilities and safeguarding national interests under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the past 12 years.
In a social media post, Mein said India has emerged as a stronger and more secure nation through sustained efforts to modernise its armed forces, enhance operational preparedness and promote indigenous defence manufacturing under the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
“Over the past 12 years, India has made remarkable strides in strengthening its defence capabilities and safeguarding national interests,” the deputy chief minister said in a post on X.
He noted that the country’s defence ecosystem has undergone a transformational change, marked by significant advances across the air, land and maritime domains.
“From modernising the armed forces and enhancing operational readiness to advancing indigenous defence manufacturing under the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, the nation has emerged stronger across air, land and maritime domains,” Mein said.
Sharing a graphic highlighting the achievements of the Modi government in the defence sector, he pointed out that India’s defence exports have increased 56 times during the period, while the defence budget has witnessed an over three-fold rise.
The Arunachal deputy CM also observed that India-made defence equipment is now being exported to more than 80 countries.
He further cited key milestones, including the successful testing of Agni-V missile with Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle (MIRV) capability and the commissioning of INS Vikrant, India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier.
Referring to recent security achievements, Mein said Operation Sindoor neutralised 100 terrorists, and the country has also made substantial progress in tackling left-wing extremism.
“These achievements reflect India’s growing self-reliance, technological innovation and unwavering commitment to national security,” Mein added. (PTI)
