Japan delegation explores investment opportunities in Assam’s health and infra sectors

Guwahati, Feb 28: A delegation from the Indian Association of Japan met with Assam’s Health Minister Ashok Singhal at Janata Bhawan on Thursday to discuss potential investments in the state’s health, irrigation, and solid waste management sectors.

The meeting primarily focused on expanding healthcare infrastructure in Assam, alongside exploring Japan’s role in curbing the rise of non-communicable diseases in the region. Discussions also touched upon leveraging Japanese expertise in solid waste management and irrigation.

Singhal confirmed Japan’s keen interest in investing in these key areas, marking the beginning of a collaborative effort. “This is just the start. A delegation from Assam will soon visit Japan to advance these discussions further. The investor-friendly environment fostered under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s leadership is drawing increasing global attention,” Singhal said.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Singhal highlighted the significance of the meeting, saying: “On the sidelines of Advantage Assam 2.0, had a productive discussion with the delegation from the Indian Association of Japan. The dialogue focused on collaborations in technology and investment, strengthening Assam-Japan relations and fostering deeper cooperation for Assam’s development.”
