Don Bosco College Byndihati holds 7th Graduation Day celebrations

Shillong, Sept 21: Graduating students of Don Bosco College Byndihati were conferred degree certificates during the 7th Graduation Day celebrations held at the college, on Friday.

The college also recognised outstanding academic achievements with the Excellence Award ceremony. This year, the college produced two rank holders in the NEHU examinations: Richard Siangshai (5th Rank in Education Department) and Rajashree Deori (7th Rank in English Department). 

Ricky Andrew J Syngkon, Member of Parliament attended as the chief guest while Dr Sherwin M Sungoh was the keynote speaker. Graduates, parents, students, management members and faculty attended the event.

In his address, Syngkon praised the foresight of the college’s founders in establishing the institution in Byndihati, a region grappling with one of the lowest literacy rates in India. He commended their commitment to providing educational opportunities in a disadvantaged area while also encouraging the students to become agents of change, contributing to social awareness and upliftment.

In her keynote address, Dr Sungoh underscored the significance of pursuing excellence and transforming challenges into stepping stones and urged the graduates to embrace adversity as a catalyst for growth and achievement.

Fr. Daniel D M Cajee, the principal, extended a warm welcome to all attendees. The ceremony included symbolic rituals like the lighting of the lamp and a prayer dance. Cultural performances added to the festive atmosphere.
