JNC forms Moobakhon-Sehlama unit

Shillong, Apr 29: The Jaintia National Council (JNC) has formed its Moobakhon-Sehlama Unit recently as part of strengthening its organization at a meeting held at Moobakhon village in West Jaintia Hills District.

The new elected office bearing of the Moobakhon-Sehlama Unit are Rikus Lamare as president, Pynshai Shylla – vice president, Lereson Kynjing – general secretary, Yoomi Sumer – asst secretary, Plijes Lamare – finance secretary, Datikna Lamare – publicity secretary, Elies Shylla – asst publicity secretary, Eborlang Lamare – education secretary, Mandakani Lamare – environment secretary, Pynshebhaki Dkhar – arts & culture secretary, Tremi Pajuh – sports secretary, Richmon Sumer – office secretary and eleven members.

The oath-taking ceremony for the new members was administered by JNC central body president Sambormi Lyngdoh, who emphasized the importance of safeguarding our identity, culture, and language in this new era.

He echoed the sentiments of the late Professor Barrister Pakem, a founding leader of ‘ka seiñ ktieñ Wei thoh Jaiñtia’ from the late 1970s, whose core mission was encapsulated in the phrase ‘Im i ktieñ-Im ka Jaidbru,’ signifying that a living language ensures the survival of our tribes.

The JNC President also urged the newly appointed office bearers to remain vigilant regarding the significant influx of individuals, particularly from Bangladesh, entering our territory.
