‘Khyndailad set for new look’

Shillong, Aug 28: Tourism minister Paul Lyngdoh on Thursday said Khyndailad will have a totally new look after completion of the beautification project.

He revealed that a massive exercise is being planned, and funding has already been arranged.

“We look forward to the post monsoon period when we will actually be able to start work on the ground and you will see totally new look Khyndailad,” Lyngdoh told reporters.

According to him, the area will feature the best of aesthetics, a combination of colours, and sounds, making it pedestrian-friendly.

The minister said the business community in the area has already benefited from relocation of hawkers to designated vending zones.

This move has prevented hawkers from blocking access to establishments, and Lyngdoh expects the cooperation of shopkeepers and residents in the area.

He assured to take up with the Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) new issues that have come up.
