Lapang quits as adviser to Govt

Shillong, Oct 2: Veteran political leader and former chief minister Dr DD Lapang on Tuesday announced his retirement as adviser to the state government.

In his resignation letter to chief minister Conrad K Sangma, 90-year-old Lapang said, “It is with a profound sense of reflection and gratitude that I announce my retirement from the position of adviser to the Government of Meghalaya.”

“My journey in serving the people of Meghalaya has been nothing short of transformative. I have seen the state evolve, and I take immense pride in being part of the evolution,” the letter stated.

The five-time former chief minister left Congress and joined the ruling Nationalist People’s Party (NPP) in 2018 after the latter formed the government for the first time.

“As I bid farewell, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the trust and opportunities provided to me… Thank you for all the memories,” he wrote in the letter.
