
Shillong, Apr 9: The mortal remains of a principal secretary to government of Meghalaya, Syed Md A Razi, who was found dead in a hotel room in Uzbekistan, arrived here on Tuesday evening.
The last rites will be performed on Wednesday, said chief minister Conrad K Sangma.
Razi, the principal secretary in-charge PHE and PWD, had been on a holiday in Bukhara, Uzbekistan since April 4.

The hotel staff had to break open the door as he didn’t respond to calls on Monday morning.
The cause of death is heart attack as per preliminary information, said the chief minister.
Condoling the officer’s demise, Sangma said it was a huge loss for Meghalaya.
As director of Jal Jeevan Mission, he made remarkable achievements in executing the scheme, he said.
On deputation to Meghalaya, the term of the Central service official was extended by one more year on the request of state government, Sangma added.
