Maiden adventure tourism conclave to boost tourism: Paul

David Scott trail to be declared a heritage site

Shillong, Oct 5: Minister in-charge of tourism Paul lyngdoh said the maiden conclave on adventure tourism is a great opportunity for Meghalaya to boost tourism in the state in the coming years.

“This is the first time that a co

nclave on adventure tourism is being organised in Meghalaya and we have the pleasure of having deputy chief minister of Odisha as chief guest,” he said.

Representatives from various states of North East and also Uttar Pradesh have taken part in the conclave.

Referring to participation of Indian Express group, which has a pan India presence, he said, “This is a huge opportunity for tourism in general and adventure tourism in particular.” 

He also informed that David Scott trail is being declared as a heritage site. 

“We have got sanctions for Sohra trails which will be again another opportunity for adventure tourism to experience the trails of our Sohra region,” said Lyngdoh. 

Asked on Sohra trails, Lyngdoh said, “The trail is a segment that comprises various trails connecting villages of Sohra where people especially tourists will walks those trails. It is a circuit combining clusters of villages within Sohra.”
