Manipur CM inaugurates NIA special court in Thoubal

Imphal, Jun 8: Manipur Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh on Monday inaugurated a National Investigation Agency (NIA) special court at Thoubal district, an official statement said.

Addressing the gathering, Singh said that the inauguration of the NIA special court, the first of its kind in the state, marks a significant milestone in strengthening the justice delivery system.

He expressed confidence that the establishment of the court would enhance the judicial framework and ensure timely access to justice for the people.

Referring to the present law and order challenges in the state, he noted that clients who previously had to approach courts outside Manipur for filing NIA-related cases can now avail legal assistance within the state itself.

It would not only make the judicial process more accessible but also reduce the financial burden and inconvenience faced by those seeking justice, the CM said.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur Justice M Sundar, stated that it was a matter of profound satisfaction to gather at the Thoubal District Court Complex to witness what he described as a significant milestone in the ongoing process of judicial institution building in Manipur.

He remarked that the establishment of the NIA special court should not be viewed in isolation, but rather as part of a larger narrative to strengthen the state’s judicial infrastructure.

Later, Singh attended the inaugural function of the ‘One-Day Seminar on Media for Communal Harmony and Responsible Journalism’ at a hotel in Imphal. (PTI)
