Shillong, Oct 8: The Meghalaya Assembly’s Committee on Estimates held an interactive meeting with their Rajasthan counterparts at Jaipur as part of its study tour on Wednesday.
The Meghalaya delegation, led by UDP legislator from Nongpoh, Mayralborn Syiem, also comprised Miani D. Shira, Remington G. Momin, Damanbait Lamare, and Gabriel Wahlang.
The meeting was aimed at exchanging insights and best practices related to the functioning and procedures of the respective committees.
Discussions focused on enhancing financial oversight, strengthening administrative reforms, and improving mechanisms for monitoring government expenditure. Both committees also shared experiences on the role of legislative bodies in ensuring accountability and transparency in governance.
The Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Committee was represented by Arjun Lal Jeengar (Chairman), along with Members Amit Chauhan, Arjun Lal, Arjun Singh Bamaniya, Gurveer Singh, Chhotu Singh, Jeevaram Choudhary, Pratap Singh Singhvi, Manoj Kumar, Shanti Dhariwal, Samaram, and Harendra Mirdha.
As part of the visit, the Meghalaya Committee also paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly.
The interaction served as an important platform for fostering inter-legislative cooperation and strengthening the effectiveness of legislative committees in promoting financial discipline and good governance.
