Meghalaya BJP hails ‘trend-setting’ Budget

Shillong, Feb 3: The Meghalaya unit of BJP has welcomed the Union Budget 2026-27 presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, saying it reflects the government’s focus on growth and development.

“BJP Meghalaya is delighted to witness an unprecedented growth in our national economy under the able guidance of the central leadership,” party chief spokesperson Maraiahom Kharkrang said in a statement issued on Tuesday.

Highlighting the government’s achievements in various sectors, he said, “In the past 12 years, India’s economy has grown steadily with stable growth and low inflation due to focused decisions by Prime Minister Modi’s government.”

“After the PM’s announcement on Independence Day in 2025, over 350 reforms have been rolled out giving impetus to our economic growth… we in Meghalaya are also certain to gain as the economy marches on,” Kharkrang added.

He further said over the years, the national leadership under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paid special attention to the welfare and development of Meghalaya.

“The various connectivity projects being undertaken across the state being a case in point,” he said, adding, “During this financial year too, our state will continue to benefit from the numerous central schemes.”

The party also congratulated the central team on the India-USA trade deal, saying it will benefit both nations and citizens.
