Meghalaya cabinet gets festive touch: ‘blossom’ meet held amid culture splash

Shillong, Nov 26: In a scenic shift, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma led a “very special” cabinet meeting at the iconic Ward’s Lake.

The four-hour session, part of a cultural drive, previewed literary events and local traditions ahead of Christmas.

“We had a very special cabinet meeting today. As you can see we are here in Ward’s Lake and this is the venue of the programme that we had for the Japanese arena during the Cherry Blossom festival, which continued into the Literary Festival, which will continue into other aspects of our own culture and traditions, which will be showcased in the next couple of weeks, moving forward into Christmas and therefore, we thought it would be most appropriate to have a cabinet meeting right here in this venue to overall get a feel of the entire festival and at the same time allow the cabinet also to be part of this entire festivals and the programmes that we are having,”Sangma told reporters after the meeting.

“It is a very special cabinet because it was quite long as we are almost here for four hours,” he said while informing that the meeting cleared as many as 16 agendas concerning the development of the state.
