Meghalaya CM hails Modi for ‘decisive leadership’ in navigating challenges amid West Asia conflict

Shillong, Mar 28: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Saturday lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his “decisive leadership” in addressing the challenges arising out of the West Asia conflict.

Sangma’s comment comes a day after the PM chaired a virtual meeting of chief ministers and lieutenant governors on the evolving situation in West Asia.

Modi had on Friday said the global situation arising out of the West Asia conflict remains dynamic, and asserted that maintaining economic and trade stability, ensuring energy security, strengthening industry and supply chains, and safeguarding citizens’ interests remain the government’s top priorities.

Sangma said he participated in the meeting convened by the Prime Minister to take stock of the fast-changing developments in the region and discuss the country’s preparedness and response.

“Attended the meeting convened by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji regarding the evolving situation in West Asia. Grateful for Hon’ble PM’s decisive leadership during such challenging times. Team India stands united and will continue to work together to navigate the situation,” the chief minister said on X.

He emphasised the need for coordinated efforts among states and the Centre to address any potential implications arising out of the situation, including the safety and welfare of Indian citizens.

The meeting comes amid heightened tensions in West Asia, triggering concerns over regional stability, global energy supplies and the safety of Indian nationals working in the region. (PTI)
