Meghalaya entrepreneurs evoke strong response at Delhi fair

Shillong, Nov 16: Meghalaya is making a strong presence, showcasing its rich cultural heritage and diverse range of products, at India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2025 being held at Pragati Maidan New Delhi from November 14-27.

Over 40 entrepreneurs – 24 from PRIME start-up ecosystem and 18 from Directorate of Food Processing – are participating in the Meghalaya Pavillion, which was inaugurated by Assembly Speaker Thomas Sangma on Sunday.

The entrepreneurs, participating in three batches, are accommodated in 12 different stalls.

Authentic Meghalayan products of PRIME start-up ventures, including handloom, handicraft, woodcarving, pottery, beverages, food processing, and spices, are on display at the Meghalaya Pavilion.

Products from Directorate of Food Processing include items such as juice, jams, candy, chips, pickles, teas, and other indigenous products.

The Pavilion also features an impressive display by the Tourism Department, with a photo exhibition of the state’s popular tourist destinations. These include its multiple waterfalls, lush green countryside, the longest caves, clean rivers, and living root bridges across the Khasi, Jaintia, and Garo Hills, alongside displays of tribal culture and festivals.

A continuous display of tourism videos and films on Meghalaya’s agricultural stories, GI products, spices, and horticulture produce is also featured.

The Meghalayan Age Ltd, the nodal agency for facilitating the state’s participation, has a stall showcasing traditional crafts in wood, bamboo, and textiles, including its premium range of products available at its Delhi outlet. The participation is a collaborative effort between the Planning Department, DoFP, PRIME, and the Tourism Department.

Meanwhile, organisers have reported that the entrepreneurs are receiving a very good response, with trade enquiries to source products from the state, promising future business for the participants.
