Ampati, August 20: Meghalaya’s Community & Rural Development (C&RD) Minister, A.T. Mondal, undertook an extensive tour of the four Community and Rural Development Blocks in South West Garo Hills district to assess their operations and challenges wrapping up the inspection with a high level meeting at Ampati circuit house on Tuesday evening.

Accompanied by Salmanpara MLA Ian Botham K. Sangma, Deputy Commissioner Hema Nayak, and DRDA Project Director R.Z.D. Shira, the Minister inspected Rerapara, Betasing, Zikzak, and Purakhasia blocks and reviewed their working to assess their operations and challenges. Rangsakona MLA Subir Marak also attended the Rerapara inspection.
The Minister reviewed the construction progress of new block office buildings in Rerapara and Zikzak and inspected land donated by Nokmas in Purakhasia for a new block office complex. He also engaged with local communities across all four blocks.

Later, at a review meeting held at the Circuit House in Ampati, attended by the Salmanpara MLA, Deputy Commissioner, DRDA Project Director, Block Development Officers, and other district officials, the Minister evaluated the blocks’ performance, focusing on the implementation of MGNREGA and other central schemes. These blocks serve as key access points for numerous government programs.
The Conrad K Sangma government has been conducting frequent inspections and review to identify loopholes and provide necessary rectifications so as to be able to ensure grassroots development through efficient service delivery.
