Meghalaya nurses now in demand in Japan

Shillong, Sept 3: Trained nurses from Meghalaya are widely known for their quality and standard in nursing. They are now in demand in as far as Japan!

A few of them appointed through a public-private initiative in Japan had an interaction with a visiting delegation led by health minister Dr M Ampareen Lyngdoh and secretary of Health & Family Welfare Ram Kumar. 

During the interaction with nurses and director of Tsurumaki Onsen Hospital on Tuesday, the state team inquired about well-being of the nurses from Meghalaya.

Three nurses from Meghalaya have been employed at the hospital through a joint initiative of the state government and Navis Corporation.

Meanwhile, the delegation also visited Alive Healthcare Centre in Tokyo, a premium healthcare centre for the elderly, which expressed the desire to hire 10 nurses from Meghalaya. A job fair will be held in Shillong on September 17 to recruit these nurses. 

Exposure on Shiitake mushroom cultivation

The minister, also in charge of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare will also visit Mizudori Farm of Yats Corporation to learn about cultivation of Shiitake mushroom. 

The visit was followed by an MoU signed between Yats Corporation and Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Hill Farmers’ Union (HFU) in 2019 for cultivation of Japanese Shiitake mushroom in Meghalaya.
