Meghalaya’s youth urged to take anti-drug pledge today

Shillong, Aug 1: The youth of Meghalaya have been urged to take an e-Pledge on MY Bharat portal as the state takes part in the nationwide drug-free campaign on August 2.

The “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan” will be launched on 2 August 2026, with a virtual address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to young people across the country.

The campaign, run by MY Bharat under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, aims to connect around 10,000 locations and engage more than one crore youth through physical and virtual participation.

In Meghalaya, students, NSS volunteers, youth clubs, colleges, schools, NGOs, spiritual organizations and industry associations are expected to take part.

State Director MY Bharat Shillong, Linda BK Sangma, said the objective of MY Bharat pledge is to mobilise youth against substance abuse and contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.

The launch will also mark the beginning of a 100-week Sunday campaign.

At district venues across the state, activities planned include walkathons, sports and fitness events, meditation sessions, cultural programmes, awareness rallies, Nukkad Natak or street plays, and signature campaigns.

MY Bharat has urged educational institutions, youth organizations, NGOs and civil society groups in Meghalaya to actively participate.
