Mentally challenged man dies in mob assault over attack on villager in Garo Hills

Tura, June 21: A man with reported mental issues has died after a mob assaulted him for stabbing a villager in the plain belt region of Rajabala, West Garo Hills, on Saturday evening.

Rajabala police received a telephonic report, around 5:15 PM, that a man who was mentally unsound, identified as Aminul Islam alias Bhulu (32 years) had taken a dao and stabbed one villager by the name of Fulbahar Sk on the Morasuti road before attempting to flee.

A mob of villagers gave chase and caught up with him near Durga Mandir in New Bhaitbari. They gave him a public trashing resulting in the attacker sustaining grievous injuries on his head and body. He died on the spot.
