Shillong, Sept 26: What Metbah Lyngdoh is now facing as UDP chief after 8 party MLAs left to join the BJP is similar to that of a political drama that he was part of, albeit in a different role.
Meghalaya Congress chief Vincent H Pala on Friday recalled the episode while taking a swipe at the UDP chief.
Recalling the incident of 2021, Pala alleged that Metbah as Assembly Speaker then passed a one-sided order when Congress sought disqualification of its 17 MLAs, who had joined the Trinamool Congress.
“I remember when Metbah was Speaker, 17 MLAs defected, he gave a one-sided order and today he is in the same position where the Congress was at that time,” Pala said.
Pala said the same lawyer who had represented the Congress in the disqualification case is now the UDP’s MP candidate.
“The same lawyer was his MP candidate. I hope his preparation for the disqualification – I don’t know whether they are preparing for filing disqualification petition. The present MP candidate of the UDP is a very good lawyer for filing disqualification and was a lawyer for the Congress at that time,” he said.
Pala said the UDP leadership will now have to face what the Congress faced earlier.
“I hope Metbah will also sing the same tune which the Congress was singing during that time, he will dance the same tune where the Congress was dancing at the time,” he added.
