MGNREGS wages: Accumulation of dues a continuous process: Mondal

Shillong, Sept 13: Accumulation of MGNREGS wages due to job card holders is a continuous process and that the state government regularly releases the funds for wages as and when received from Government of India, said C&RD minister AT Mondal on Thursday.

“It (the wages component) has nothing to do with the state government. It is directly transferred to the account of job card holders,” Mondal told reporters.

Admitting that some dues may be accumulated for some village employment councils (VECs), he said, “It is a continuous process, the moment of work is done, it is uploaded in the software.”

“We are continuously paying as soon as we receive the Central share,” he said.

“However, by the you pay some dues, new dues get accumulated. So, it is a continuous process,” he added.

On allegations of corruption against the VECs, the minister said inquiries were instituted regarding all such allegations.

“We have told the BDOs to look in all the aspects as per the constitution of VEC and they are taking care of it,” he added.
