‘Missing’ teenage girl found safe

Shillong, Oct 13: A 17-year-old girl, who went “missing” on Sunday causing panic in the family amid recent incidents of attacks on children, has been found to be safe.

Family of the girl, Sebenia Mawlong, reported her as missing from her home in Mawlai Nongkwar Block 6 from Sunday.

However, according to her aunt, Sebenia went to attend a birthday party with her friends.

The aunt said she received a phone call informing about her niece being with her friends.

The girl was later taken for questioning at Mawlai police station where the family filed a missing complaint on Monday morning.

According to the aunt, Sebenia requested her mother for permission to attend the birthday party, but she was denied.

However, while the mother was asleep, she went to the party without informing anyone, which prompted the concern and the subsequent police complaint.
