Museum, docu film among steps in PA Sangma’s honour

Shillong, Mar 4: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has announced the government’s decision to take a series of initiatives — a museum, a book, and a documentary film — to honour the life and legacy of the founder of ruling National People’s Party (NPP) and former Lok Sabha Speaker PA Sangma.

Addressing “Our Magnificent Meghalaya – Vision 2032” programme at Resubelpara Mini Stadium, marking eight years of MDA Government, the Chief Minister described the occasion as a moment of remembrance.

Describing the occasion as a moment of remembrance, the Chief Minister said the ideals and vision of PA Sangma continue to guide the state’s governance and development journey.

“Late PA Sangma is still in our midst through his vision, principles and ideals that continue to inspire our policies and governance,” he said.

He noted that the former Lok Sabha Speaker played a crucial role in giving a strong voice to the North East in national politics, serving both as a Member of Parliament and as a respected national leader.

To preserve and showcase his contributions for future generations, the state government will establish a museum dedicated to his life, alongside publishing a book and producing a documentary film highlighting his journey and achievements.

“These initiatives will celebrate his life and contributions while ensuring that his ideals continue to inspire generations to come,” the Chief Minister added.

Purno Agitok Sangma, a towering political figure from Meghalaya, served multiple terms as a Member of Parliament and held several key positions at the national level, including Speaker of the Lok Sabha. He was widely regarded as one of the most influential leaders from the North East in Indian politics.
