Nadda reviews child health progs at Shillong meet

Shillong, June 5: Child Health Programmes in India and ways to improve the related policies were discussed by a Parliamentary Consultative Committee headed by Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda in Shillong on Friday.

Following the meeting, the committee visited NEIGRIHMS to review hospital infrastructure and child healthcare services.

The members inspected the pediatric OPD and ward, spoke with patients, and expressed satisfaction with the care provided, according to a press release.

Besides Nadda, the Lok Sabha MPs who attended the meeting include Dr CN Manjunath, Dr Sanjay Jaiswal, Rajabhau Parag Prakash Waje, Satish Kumar Gautam, Brijendra Singh Ola, Anoop Pradhan, and Dr Sharmila Sarkar.

Rajya Sabha members at the meeting include Dr Kalpana Saini, Haris Beeran, Dr Parmar Jashvantsinh Salamsinh, Dr Radha Mohan Das Agarwal, Renuka Chowdhary, and Rajathi.

Union Health Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava, Health Research Secretary and ICMR Director General Dr. Rajiv Bhal, and NEIGRIHMS Director Prof. Nalin Mehta were also present.

Meanwhile, marking World Environment Day, the delegation held a tree plantation drive at NEIGRIHMS, endorsing the 2026 theme “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.”
