Shillong, Apr 25: The North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) administration has strongly condemned the assault of a teacher in his office chamber and assured of instituting an inquiry into the incident.
“On behalf of the Vice-Chancellor in-charge Prof SM Sungoh and the administration, the university strongly condemns any act of violence in the university campus,” NEHU PRO Dr Davidson Pyngrope said in a statement.

Mentioning that an FIR has already been lodged on the assault by “some miscreants”, the PRO said, “Now the matter is in the hands of the police department and the investigation will take its course.”
Prof Pyngrope, meanwhile, informed that the university will also form an inquiry committee to look into the matter.
“We urge the university fraternity, including students, to kindly maintain the decorum of the university,” he said while assuring that security of teachers, staff, and students is of utmost importance for the university administration.
