
Shillong, May 16: NEHUSU president Sandy Sohtun, accused of assaulting an assistant professor in his office chamber, was released on bail on Thursday.
The president of North Eastern Hill University Students’ Union (NEHUSU) was arrested and sent to judicial custody on April 28.

Assistant professor Hindi department Dr Alok Singh had filed an FIR against Sohtun and five others on April 25, a day after the assault incident took place in his office chamber (April 24).
“Sohtun was released on bail yesterday (Thursday),” NEHUSU general secretary Toniho Kharsati said over phone on Friday.
He also informed that the union will soon sit to discuss and take decision on the issue.
