Shillong, Nov 6: With a view to transforming the rural development scenario by deploying quality manpower in the sector, the state government on Tuesday decided to constitute Meghalaya Rural Development Services Recruitment Board (MRDSRB) under the Community & Rural Development (C&RD) department.
The Board will facilitate appointment of junior rural development officers (JRDO) to be selected through a rigorous examination process, said cabinet minister Paul Lyngdoh after a cabinet meeting, which was virtually chaired by chief minister Conrad K Sangma from Tura.
“There is a paucity of officers at the ground level and going through MPSC would delay the process of selection of such officers,” Lyngdoh said while justifying the cabinet clearance to the proposal for formation of the Board.
Informing that altogether 59 posts of GRDO would be created for posting at entry level, he said, “They will be selected through rigorous examination process and posted at the blocks as junior rural development officers.”
New appointments
Meanwhile, the state government approved the appointment of Col Daryl Hopkins as Zilla Sainik Welfare Officer, Tura for five years.
The cabinet also cleared appointment of former principal chief conservator of forest (PCCF) BK Lyngwa, IFS (retd) as chairperson of Real Estate Regulatory Authority.
